Bird's Eye Insights With Aerial Mapping

Photomapping delivers aerial mapping across Australia, New Zealand, and Papua New Guinea. With over 40 years of experience, we combine advanced LiDAR and imaging technologies with fixed‑wing and rotary aircraft to capture accurate, high‑resolution data at any scale.

Our Services

Photomapping delivers a comprehensive range of geospatial data products, customised to meet each project’s specific requirements.

Aerial LiDAR Mapping
Airborne LiDAR uses high‑density laser technology to generate accurately georeferenced 3D point clouds. During processing, we classify each data point and apply colourisation to align precisely with project requirements. Key specifications include:

  • Point densities up to 1500 points/m²
  • Vertical accuracy better than 50 mm RMSE
  • Simultaneous acquisition with imagery for fully aligned

    datasets

  • These point clouds support applications such as engineering surveys, design validation, flood modelling, and infrastructure monitoring.

    Orthophoto Imagery
Orthophoto imagery is a scale‑corrected 2D aerial map created with large‑format airborne sensors. Each pixel corresponds exactly to its real‑world location, making the resulting maps immediately usable in GIS, design and asset‑management systems. Key specifications include:

  • Ground Sampling Distance (GSD) as fine as 2 cm
  • Multispectral capture in 3‑band RGB or 4‑band RGB + NIR
  • Coverage from extensive regional surveys down to detailed

    site-specific mapping

  • Orthophotos support applications such as transportation planning, environmental monitoring, heritage documentation, and urban development.

    Corridor & Linear Infrastructure Mapping
Linear infrastructure assets such as transmission lines, pipelines, rail corridors, canals and road networks require specialised capture methods to ensure continuous, high‑accuracy spatial data along extensive routes. Where additional detail is needed – especially in complex or urban environments – airborne acquisition can be supplemented with ground‑based Mobile Laser Scanning (MLS) for seamless, corridor‑wide coverage. Key capabilities include:

  • Support for detailed mapping of linear assets across

    remote, rural and built environments

  • Flexible integration of airborne and ground-based methods

    to match project requirements

  • Continuous, corridor‑wide data capture with no gaps

between flight lines or ground passes

  • These datasets underpin corridor planning, asset condition monitoring, compliance reporting and maintenance scheduling for utilities, transport authorities, and infrastructure operators.

Bespoke Geospatial Solutions with Integrated Surveying
We design tailored geospatial solutions that meet the unique needs of each project. From custom datasets compatible with GIS, CAD, and asset management systems to interactive web-based mapping tools, our approach ensures seamless integration into your workflows. As part of ISGroup, we extend our capability beyond aerial capture with ground-based surveys, mobile and terrestrial LiDAR, and UAV-mounted systems. This combined capability allows us to provide fully integrated spatial data for complex environments and large-scale infrastructure projects.

    Fleet Capacity

Photomapping uses both fixed-wing aircraft and rotary aircraft, with access to turbine and piston platforms to match each project’s scale, location, and technical requirements. Our fixed-wing fleet provides efficient coverage for large areas and linear assets, while rotary aircraft enable detailed low-level corridor mapping and precision flying in complex environments.

    Our Technological Advantage

Photomapping leverages the latest geospatial technology to capture accurate, high-quality data across a wide range of project types and conditions.

    Leica DMC-4 Airborne Imaging Sensor

Photomapping operates some of the most advanced airborne capture systems. Our Leica DMC-4 imaging sensor – the only one of its kind in Australia – delivers large-format, high-resolution imagery with exceptional geometric and radiometric accuracy. It captures RGB and near-infrared data simultaneously and covers wide areas efficiently, making it ideal for both detailed site mapping and large-scale surveys.

    Leica TerrainMapper

Our LiDAR capability, powered by the Leica TerrainMapper, produces ultra-dense 3D point clouds with multiple returns per pulse. This enables precise mapping of ground, vegetation and infrastructure, with perfectly aligned photo and LiDAR datasets for comprehensive analysis.

Alongside these flagship systems, we deploy a full suite of sensors and a versatile fleet of fixed-wing and rotary aircraft. We configure every mission to meet project needs, from remote regions to complex urban environments.

    Industries We Work With

Photomapping supports clients across a broad range of sectors - delivering reliable data to inform planning, design, and decision-making.

    Government & Councils

We partner with federal, state and local agencies on public infrastructure, natural resource and land management projects, collaborating closely to tailor our workflows to each agency’s regulatory and budgetary requirements. Our robust, integration‑ready datasets feed directly into urban growth planning, land‑use analysis, vegetation and hazard monitoring, and infrastructure condition assessments.

    Mining & Resources

We provide resource operators with high‑precision spatial data to support operational design, environmental monitoring and rehabilitation tracking. We work around construction windows, rehabilitation milestones and strict safety requirements to deliver data on time and in the formats needed by site engineers, environmental managers and GIS specialists.

    Forestry

We assist forestry operators, conservation organisations and landholders in delivering reliable spatial data aligned with seasonal cycles. Our national reach and adaptable sensors support rapid deployment after disturbances and enable growth monitoring, yield forecasting, biomass estimation, canopy health analysis and compliance.

    Energy Infrastructure

We partner with energy providers to monitor and maintain electricity, gas and renewable networks within regulatory inspection cycles and vegetation‑risk requirements. Our flexible airborne and ground strategies deliver accurate, repeatable data for powerline clearance, terrain modelling, post‑disaster surveys and routine asset inspections.
